Tsunami evacuation zone links:
The Department of Emergency Management (DEM) has completed a full revision of the Oahu tsunami evacuation zone maps. This is the first revision since 1991 and was accomplished using scientific techniques and technology not available at that time.
In many instances the new data has identified locations on Oahu with an increased tsunami hazard; in a few places the hazard has decreased.
Work on the new maps for Hawaii and Oahu began in 2004 and is a product of the Tsunami Inundation Mapping Project at the University of Hawaii, Manoa.
